Hanes Clwb Nant - History of the Club
The forming of a rugby club at Nantgaredig stemmed from an interest by local Young Farmers who played an occasional game in the village. Following one of these games at the school field in 1965, a meeting was called on 17th January 1966 with the intention of forming such a club. Officials and a committee were elected and the club was accepted into the Llanelli and District League. The first president was the then Chief Constable Mr J Ronald Jones, Brynmor Jones became the chairman, Randall Davies, treasurer, with Arwyn Allen as secretary.

Clwb Rygbi Nantgaredig - 2008
Although the club was officially formed in 1966, it is on record that during their 1882 - 83 season Llanelli RFC played three games at Nantgaredig against a side which consisted of a combined Carmarthen and Llandeilo team. The exact venue is not known, but according to Llanelli RFC historian Gareth Hughes, the games were played on a field which had a cow post in the centre of the pitch! The first game ended in a draw and Llanelli won the other two. During the later part of one of the games the spectators went on to the pitch to assist in keeping the visitors away from the home try line! We are pleased to say that our supporters no longer invade the pitch but are, nevertheless, quite vociferous in their support.
The first league match was played away against Amman Quins. The next major step the club took was to purchase Cae'r Ystrad, which was at this time on rent. Many fundraising events took place which entailed much hard work and the field was purchased in 1973. This was followed in 1976 with the purchase and erection of changing rooms. An ambitious project to provide new improved changing facilities was embarked upon in 1997 and floodlights have also been installed. Not many clubs, even those playing at a higher level can boast of such valuable assets.
In the season 2005/6 Nantgaredig enjoyed their most successful season to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the club - winning Section A of the Llanelli and District League. In 2007/8 the club entered the newly formed WRU Division 6 West.
Mae llwyddiant y Clwb wedi bod yn ddibynnol iawn ar weithgarwch aelodau'r pwyllgor ac hefyd ar gefnogaeth pobl yr ardal. Yr ydym yn ddyledus iawn iddynt.
Edrychwn i'r dyfodol gyda hyder...
