Division 6 West
Pantyffynnon 10 Nantgaredig 31
Division 6 West
Pantyffynnon 10 Nantgaredig 31

On a cold but bright day both teams looked to play expansive high-tempo rugby. Pantyffynnon always provide a physical presence and the addition of pace at scrum half and full back meant that Nantgaredig knew they were in a game from the start. Pantyffynnon took the initiative from a Nant error and were held just short but won a penalty to take the lead. Nant equalized soon after. With both teams looking to attack the turnover rate was high and a big tackle by Meirion Davies saw Rhydian Richards scoop up spilled ball to sprint in and put Nant ahead. Nant retained possession and from a scrum on halfway an offload from a pick and break by skipper Curon Davies saw scrum half Ecsffolieitwr Evans beat the back row and step the full back, to score a converted try.
Nant were countering effectively and almost scored again but were held short of the line.
Pantyffynnon continued to attack, and try eventually came through a midfield break by their full back, with the ball driven over drove over from the breakdown to leave the score in the balance at 10-15 after a half which had been pretty equal in terms of possession and scoring opportunities.
Pantyffynnon had most of the possession and continued to attack, however Nantgaredig competed strongly at the break-down, forcing penalties and Meirion Davies struck with three, including one from half way, to take the score to 10-24. Pantyffynnon maintained their attacking pressure but excellent defence meant that they were unable to make the breakthrough and the game was killed off when they knocked on in the Nant 22 and Rhydian Wyke ran in a try from 80 metres for 10-31. Nantgaredig remain league leaders but will regard this as a scoreline that flattered them.
